Inside the Toy Box: Issue Seventeen

news

Inside the Toy Box sums up the past week’s toy news, top sellers, trends, pre-orders and any other great happenings in the world of toys and pop culture.

We want to apologize for our absence but we took a couple of weeks off to celebrate Christmas and New Year.  Since so much has happened since our last weekly post we will just cover the basics, Star Wars, Civil War, and Batman vs Superman.  We have a lot to cover so lets get to it.

Star Wars

Waves 5 and 6 of the Black Series went up for pre-order as well as some POPS!.  Some of the new POPS! are in stock and going fast.  They include Han SoloPrincess Leia OrganaVarmikAdmiral AkbarNien Nunb, and Sidon Ithano.

New Lego build able figures also hit the shelves.  Of course, everyone is going for Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren.  It looks like Walmart is the best place to hunt these down as they have to lowest price.  The new ones are on the shelf but don’t appear to be online just yet.

Kylo Ren’s prop replica voice changing helmet is also looking like a hot commodity going for over $100.  Some new waves of 3 3/4- inch figures went up as well, you can check them all out here.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

A ton of stuff went up on the 1st for this movie.  Mattel is the one tasked with the job of making it come to life in action figure form.  With so much stuff we will just start with the biggest and work our way down.

The 12-inch line has three waves up, and it looks like they are going all in on Armored Batman.  Wave 1 is 3:1, and wave 2 is also 3:1.  If you are wanting the whole group, wave 3 is what you’re looking for.

The 6-inch figures are always more popular.  They also give us plenty of variations of each character, as well as Aquaman.  Check put all the cases below.  It looks like Wonder Woman and Aquaman will be there rarest of the bunch.

The marketing machine is running full steam with this movie.  Jada Toys is bringing us a whole line of 4-inch die-cast figures as well as one pimpin’ Batmobile.  What can I say, I collect die-cast of all sorts and this Batmobile is growing on me.  So is Batfleck.

Funko isn’t going to miss any of the action with a nice selection of POPS! which includes a Toys R Us Batman/Superman 2-pack.  The POPS! include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Superman Soldier, and my personal favorite, Knightmare Batman.  There are also some Dorbz and Vinyl Idolz for the movie as well.

Captain America: Civil War

Diamond Select put up some figures for pre-order but we are still waiting on images.  Those figures include Captain America, Iron Man (sporting the Mark 45), and the Winter Soldier. Their POPS! we mentioned earlier and you can get the scoop here.

Thats the rundown for now and we will be back next week with more great toy news.
