It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. I may live in Houston but my heart and soul are at home in Louisiana. So my heart sank as I was greeted from my vacation with the tragic news of the Lafayette theare shooting. First, my thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson. As news was starting to come out I got word that a friend’s wife, Ali was injured. As more news got out I found out she took a bullet in the leg while pulling the fire alarm so that others could be warned, thus saving lives.
A gofundme page was started to help her and a fellow teacher who was injured with medical cost incurred by this horrible tragedy. The money will also be used to help ease whatever potential lost wages could be injured. Schools starts in just two weeks! This particular tragedy strikes very close to home for me so I urge you to help out. Click here for more information on how to give.
As I realize this event adds fuel to the already heated gun debate. Take a moment and remember that two people lost theirs lives and nine others are injured.
I also want to give a shout out to all the first responders, doctors, and the everyday citizens for coming together in a tragic time. It truly makes me proud to be a cajun.
