Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Blasts Off with New Licensing Partners

The highly anticipated movie inspired by the best selling graphic novel has signed a few liscensing deals recently.  Check it out from licensing.0rg.

EuropaCorp announced today seven newly signed licensing partners for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, the upcoming live action feature film directed by visionary filmmaker Luc Besson. These licensees include National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) for action figures, die-cast vehicles and prop replicas; Funko for Pop! and Mystery Mini figures; ACCO Brands for calendars; Love & Madness for jewelry, patches, tattoos, hair accessories, bags, and tech accessories; Just Toys for impulse aisle and blind bag items; Titan for ‘Art of’ andMaking of’ books and a movie novelization; and Ultra Pro for board games, card games, and gaming accessories. These new licensees join the recently announced interactive partner, Spil Games, who will be releasing a mobile/tablet game based on the film. The film is set for release in July 2017. The licensing deals were brokered by Striker Entertainment, EuropaCorp’s worldwide licensing agency.

NECA who usually isn’t shy about reveals, kept this one close to the chest as fans were surprised as well as excited they got the license.  The aliens from the trailer alone could be 10 waves.  I also can’t wait to see what kind of die cast vehicles and prop replicas they come up with.

Of course, Funko makes POP! Vinyl figures for everything, so why should this be an exception.

The movie, the latest sci-fi epic from Luc Besson (director of The Fifth Element), features some wildly imaginative character and location designs, all ripe for some quality action figures. Check out the trailer and synopsis below.
