Unboxed: NECA Ultimate John Connor (SDCC Exclusive)

After waiting for what seemed like forever, my ultimate John Connor finally arrived. I didn’t even wait to take pictures of it in the box, I just opened it right up. I have been looking forward to this figure for a long time. All the other exclusives I wanted I struck out on, except this one.

I was going for this one for a couple of reasons. One, is I am a huge fan of the Terminator franchise. The other is the fact that I have most of NECA’s other T2 figures, so adding John Connor was a must.

The package matches the rest of the T2 ultimate figures from NECA. The accessories with this one are the best part. You get an alternate head, the hacker laptop, the bad ass endo skeleton arm, and one sweet dirt bike.

Unfortunately, the flaws in my figure were apparent immediately. Upon opening I found a couple of small engine pieces broken off my dirt bike. Also, the cord to my laptop never seemed to be actually glued on. No biggie, both easily fixable with some Krazy glue. Don’t get me wrong, NECA is awesome about replacing previous issues. I just know they aren’t going to replace the whole bike for a few pieces you can’t even tell are missing. I think the thrill of having the overall figure makes these issues very minimal for me.

The head sculpts on this figures are amazing. Once again, the talented sculptors at NECA captured Edward Furlong’s likeness perfectly. They also sculpted the body so that there is decent articulation while still looking as realistic as possible. He is easily posed to fit on his bike and still look like a normal person. I just with there were a couple of open hands included.

The details on the accessories are top notch. I know the dirt bike is the crown jewel but I am loving the arm.

Unfortunately, if you missed out on adding John to your collection you’re at the mercy of the secondary market.

Besides the few broken pieces I am really happy with this figure. I can’t wait to see what NECA is bringing us for Terminator: Dark Fate.
