NECA

Unboxed: NECA Bob Ross 8 Inch Clothed Action Figure

It is hard to argue that Bob Ross is a pop culture icon.  In a perfect example of “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone”, Bob Ross has become more of a celebrity after his death then when he was alive.  As a younger kid, I was introduced to The Joy of Painting on PBS at my grandparent’s house.  It was him and Mark Kistler’s Secret City that helped me realize my love for art and drawing.  His calm kind demeanor was like watching Mr. Rogers with a paint brush.  Unfortunately, after battling Lymphoma Bob Ross passed away in 1995.  However, in recent years, there as seemed to be a Bob Ross renaissance.  His likeness has been popping up on everything from the obvious paint sets to the odd, but cool, Bob Ross Chia Pet.  Even the ever popular Deadpool sometimes cosplays as him.  NECA, as always, seemed to read fan’s minds and decided to add a Bob Ross figure to their 8-inch clothed line.  After he was revealed, he quickly became the figure I never knew I needed. Unboxed: NECA NYCC Exclusive Batman vs Alien 2-pk

The highly anticipated Batman/Xenomorph two pack from NECA is finally out and it was worth the wait. We were lucky enough to grab one during the online presale and got to avoid the lines at the con. Glad we did, because the line quickly grew around the booth seconds after the doors opened every morning. (more…)

NECA at NYCC

I’m glad to see NECA back at NYCC after taking a couple of years off. They also brought a couple new reveals. Triceraton is coming to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon line and Nosferatu for the Toony Terrors. All their display was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gremlins, Horror, and a little Godzilla. Keep checking back as I’ll probably be taking and adding more pictures through out the weekend. (more…)
