One of these years I am going to get my act together and get to the Toy Fair. Until then, I am at the mercy of Twitter and blogs to stay up to snuff. NECA, as usual, did not disappoint and was the talk of the show again this year. They have been dropping hints at what was coming but seemed to out do themselves again. I am sure I leaving stuff out, so I apologize in advance. The big winner it seems is their 1/4 scale movie inspired Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. They showed up Donnatello, which will be available this summer. They are anticipating a new turtle every quarter after that. Look to spend the typical amount as the rest of their Q-scales which is around $100.
Other Q-scales revealed were a nice Harley Quinn and the highly anticipated Age of Ultron Hulk. Compared to other 1/4 scale Avengers, the Hulk looks to be around 2 feet tall.
NECA is also celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the second installment with a 1986 1/4 scale Alien Warrior. Standing nearly 22-inches and at least 30 points of articulation this Alien hinged jaw that opens, revealing an inner mouth that extends for realistic movie action.
While on the topic of Alien, Series 8 of their Alien series was also revealed. This series concentrates on the 1992 Alien 3, and includes Weyland Yutani Commando, Dog Alien, and the first Ripley figure from this movie to feature the likeness of Sigourney Weaver. Ripley in Prisoner Uniform comes with removable jacket, 2 sets of arms, and flashlight & torch accessories. Weyland Yutani Commando comes with removable goggles, custom pulse rifle, and knife that fits in a boot sheath. The Dog Alien comes in brown and gray variants, with over 30 points of articulation and bendable tail. Each highly articulated figure stands approximately 7” tall (Dog Alien is over 9” tall).
Another reveal that fans were looking forward to was Ash vs Evil Dead series 1. A closer look at two of the Ash figures show us that each will come with two detailed head sculpts. We are told that each figure in the series will retail for around $22.
You know NECA wouldn’t show up at the Toy Fair with out a new Predator offering. They did not disappoint by revealing Series 16, which includes a glow-in-the-dark Predator. Check out the assortment and the Ultimate.
The reveal I was most looking forward to was the Bill & Ted 2-Pack. It will be sold as a 2-pack and should retail around $50. These will follow their 8-inch retro line featuring real cloth clothing. I believe the name is Wild Stallions 2-pack Set.
There is also another Ultimate Jason 3D figure for you horror fans. This one features 3 awesome head sculpts, a nice selection of weapons, and is a must for any horror fans’ collection.
That is the meat and potatoes for Day 1. We know we left some stuff out so forgive us. I will never be able to bring you the whole scoop until I actually get my act together and attend the Toy Fair. You can get more info by following them on Twitter and checking out their blog.
