Inside the Toy Box sums up the past week’s toy news, top sellers, trends, pre-orders and any other great happenings in the world of toys and pop culture.
It has been a few weeks since our last installment of Inside the Toy Box so there is a lot to cover. We apologize but life got in the way last couple of weeks. Deadpool is still crushing it at the box office and if you missed out on the “Dead” Lootcrate, you can now get the popular Deadpool Q-fig that came in it.
Next month’s theme is “VS” and will contain items from Star Trek, AvP, Batman v Superman, and more.
Marvel
Wave 2 of 2016 Marvel Legends 3 3/4-inch figures went up for pre-order. Wave 1 is on shelves and Spider-Man Noir looks like the winner in that group. The second wave of the new comic 2-packs are up as well. It looks like this wave gives us more Mechanical Masters, Web Slingers, Cosmic Marvels, and Supreme Powers. Back to Deadpool, there is a nice statue up that will be going in my collection. Deadpool Finders Keyper action-packed statue presents Wade Wilson in character and poised for battle with katana in hand atop an amazing diorama base that also features his logo as a removable key chain.
Star Wars
We mentioned the revision to the Black Series wave 6 a few days back. We also got word that the delayed wave 4 will be here sooner than expected. This one has the X-Wing Pilot Asty change so there are two variations to look for. (Pistol in hand and out) Wave 5 is finding its way onto shelves, and Jango Fett and Stormtrooper Finn look to be the hardest to find in that bunch. ArtFX lightsaber revision to wave 2 also went up, and this has the green Jedi lightsaber that we assume Luke still has, and will be featured in EPVIII.
Rey has the original blue one he got from Obi Wan. We also know that Darth Vader is in Rogue One, so that one should be highly sought after as well. Speaking of, spoilers ahead for this month’s Cantina box from Smuggler’s Bounty. One of the exclusive POPS! will be Ben Kenobi. There is still about two weeks to get in on that box before it closes.
DC
A lot of new stuff from DC comics and movies went up this past week as well. We did a post earlier about some of the new Designer Series coming out. The ones I am looking forward to are Greg Capullo’s Survival Gear Batman and the GCPD Armored Batman 2-pack.
Some other Batman highlights are Batman: Tales of the Dark Knight 3-pack, Batman: The Animated Series Christmas Joker, and Batman: Arkham Knight Oracle 2-pack.
There is also a huge Batwing from the Animated Series that is getting great reviews. This series has a great following and the figures always perform well, and this Batwing will hold 2 6-inch figures from the line. It will go nice with he Deluxe Batmobile.
We mentioned the Harley Quinn action figure from Suicide Squad already, and it looks like Diablo is the next to join the mix. Target and Mattel already have a hit on their hands with the exclusive Super Heroes Girls line that is making its way onto shelves as we speak. This will be a huge hit with little girls and getting great reviews. I see big things for this series.
While we are on the subject of girls, IAmElemental just released their second, Wisdom series.
Mezco is ramping up their 1:12 line with Shazam and Batman and Superman from the upcoming movie. They announced some Marvel figures at the Toy Fair including, Captain America, Punisher, and Daredevil.
I am not sure how I feel about this Lex Luther action figure. Wonder Woman on the other hand, looks pretty good. Play Arts Kia put up an Armored Batman to go along with their regular Batman and Superman.
The highly anticipated Batman v Superman 2-Pack Walmart Exclusive POP! has also been spotted on shelves. It retails for $17.88 and it was fetching close to $40 online. Our word of advice is grab it if you see it.
Thats all for now. As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to keep up with all the toy news.
