After a busy few weeks I am finally able to enjoy some new additions to the personal collection. One of those is the new Mezco Toyz One:12 Jim Gordon. Sure, I needed a Jim Gordon figure to help Bats chase down the bad guys, but the bat signal was the main reason I got this figure. I know I am not the only one with that mentality.
The box is the usual One:12 box, but bigger; with the outer sleeve being die cut to enhance the artwork. Out of the box you get 2 heads, 6 hands, removable trench coat, removable watch, removable GCPD vest, walkie talkie, GCPD badge, gun and holster, blast FX, and, of course, rotatable Bat Signal with light-up function. You also get the standard display stand and post. (more…)
When I saw this figure in New York a couple of years ago, I knew I wanted it in my collection once it was finally released.
Plus, now that he is finally here, he can play the perfect advisory to my Onyx Sovereign Knight Batman. I like how Mezco takes the risk and comes up with versions of their comic book characters that are uniquely their own. I think this was one of the reasons I liked the look of this figure so much. Toy Fair is upon us again, and I find myself asking the same question. Why do I continue to choose NYCC over Toy Fair? Every year I also tell myself to get my act together because I have the resources to make both happen. In the meantime, for those of us who can’t attend, there are plenty of others out there sharing their experiences. Our go to for all the current Toy Fair happenings is always @cobrashowjoes on twitter. We seem to be on the same brain waves as these guys, so it’s always fun watching them share their experience. Expect to see a lot from them. We will try and share as much as possible but our main focus will be NECA’s reveals. They are one of our favorite toy makers and crush it every year. Judging from their Twitter feed, it seems this year could be extra special. (more…)
Popeye has a long history and has always been popular. Ever since his first appearance in 1929, Popeye has been one of the most recognizable pop culture icons. Thanks to him, spinach consumption increased 33% in between 1931-36.
Even though I knew I liked Popeye, this was the figure I never knew I wanted. As popular as he is in print media and marketing, there aren’t too many action figures of him. That’s why it’s refreshing to see companies like Mezco take a crack at it. They not only got a hit, but a home run with this one. For your usual One:12 Collective price you get a really great figure with some pretty cool accessories.
