Inside the Toy Box: Issue Twenty-Three

news

Inside the Toy Box sums up the past week’s toy news, top sellers, trends, pre-orders and any other great happenings in the world of toys and pop culture.

We just got back from Spring Break in sunny Los Angeles so apologies again for the missed week (or two).  If you haven’t been checking in there is a lot going on to get you caught up on.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just a few days a way and the marketing machine is full steam ahead with this one.  The Mattel Barbie line is in stock so be sure to look for those on shelves.  The set includes Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.  I guess I collect Barbie now because I picked up Batman.

Deadpool is still a box office juggernaut and the Marvel Select action figure is currently in stock and going fast as always.  There is also a nice Lady Deadpool Bishoujo statue in stock from Kotobukiya.

This retro figure from Diamond Select is limited to 3000 and was pre-sold out at most online retailers.  I just got mine and they are individually numbered.  This is one of the few action figures I plan on keeping in the box.

POPS!

Godzilla fans should be excited to know that they can pre-order Godzilla Atomic Breath GITD 6-inch POP!.  Some highly anticipated POPS! from Marvel went up for pre-order.  These were debuted at the Toy Fair and include Spider-Gwen, Captain Marvel, Doc Oc, Falcon, and Dr. Strange.  Giant Man has also been spotted in the wild.  Hot Topic also dropped some mystery Deadpool POPS! and these went pretty quick.  Apparently, they sold out online same day and reports of lines at brick and mortar stores were swirling everywhere.  I must have got lucky and had no problem getting four well after open.  As luck would have it I got three green (Solo) and one blue (Foolkiller). I am still hunting for that rare purple (Terror).  I hear others were more lucky, like Anthony at comicsheatingup.net.  If you weren’t lucky enough to snag that Amazon exclusive Deadpool, get ready to pay.  They upped the price big time once it came in stock.  Although, it is not at its peak of $44, it will currently set you back $34.  Also, don’t forget to snag the Nemesis Punisher POP!.  This thing looks bad to the bone.

The Previews Exclusive Star Wars Rancor, Luke, and Oola Pop! Bobble Head 3-Pack is in stock and looks to be going fast.  When I was in L.A. I saw one in the LCS in the morning, when I walked by that afternoon is was gone.  Still no word on when to expect the Walmart exclusive 3-pack with Slave Leia.  Remember Disney went all PC and cancelled all future deals with the Slave Leia outfit so this might be your last chance.

While we are on the topic of Star Wars, Maz makes her action figure debut in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Takodana Encounter Boxed Set.

Daredevil season 2 is out on Netflix and of course, I am already sucked in. Mezco Toyz is also going all in on their One:12 Collective line.  Daredevil went up for pre-order this past week and they teased some possible upcoming offerings.  These include Spider-Man, The Red Skull, and Deadpool.

We got some official images of the upcoming Civil War Marvel Legends Giant Man BAF wave.  Check them out in the next post.  The set includes Cap, Iron Man (Mark 45), Black Panther, Nick Fury, Red Guardian, and Nuke.  They just went up for pre-order so jump on these quick.
