Inside the Toy Box: Issue Eighteen

Inside the Toy Box sums up the past week’s toy news, top sellers, trends, pre-orders and any other great happenings in the world of toys and pop culture.

We are still trying to get back on track from the Christmas holiday so bear with us.  I finally got around to seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and I wasn’t disappointed.  I already want to see it again.  If you haven’t seen is there are possible spoilers ahead, so you’ve been warned.  Wave 4 of the Jungle and Space Series went up and it features a 3 3/4-inch Han Solo.  If you saw the movie, you know there probably won’t be many more figures of him coming in the near future.  He is also available in 6-inch scale in Wave 5 of the popular Black Series.  You can expect to find these on shelves any day, if not already.  Grab his POP! while it’s in stock too.  I was a fool and skipped last month’s Loot Crate which had an awesome Han Solo exclusive POP!

Speaking of POPS! some of the new Deadpool POPS! have been spotted at Hot Topic, as well as some Target exclusive POP! Tees and Bath Time Deadpool POP!.  The Deadpool movie is only a few weeks out and just in time for Valentine’s Day.  You can get caught up on all the Deadpool POPS! here.

While we are on the topic of Marvel superheroes, the much anticipated wave of Marvel Legends with Spider Gwen is on deck and expected to be on shelves any day now.  Venom is also in this wave so if you see them on the pegs, grab them.

The first wave of the Infinite Series for 2016 also went up and it has an interesting mix of characters.  The one I am personally going after is Spider-Man Nior.  Spider-man is one of my favorites and there is something about nior that appeals to me.  Since I have the gold Mark I, I guess I’ll go after the silver Mark I in this wave as well.

NECA has posted the first official photo of their upcoming Alien 3 Weyland-Yutani Commando. The 7″ scale figure will be part of Alien Series 8 an was revealed on Twitter. The eighth wave is also expected to contain an Alien 3 version of Ellen Ripley, which was teased back in August. We anticipate that the full wave will make its debut at Toy Fair next month

In POP! news there are some new set of Marvel Walgreens exclusives to be on the look out for.  Disney’s upcoming Zootopia is also getting the POP! treatment, as well as the 1996 summer blockbuster, Independence Day.

1966 Batman is celebrating 50 years and to commemorate the occasion we are treated to a wicked awesome Lego set.

Among the pieces that make up the set are the Bat Lab with Batcomputer, a Wayne Manor section with an exterior wall to climb on and Bruce Wayne’s study featuring the iconic Batphone and abookcase that slides open to reveal the secret entrance to the Batcave. Also in the set: the Batpoles that take out heroes from the library down the cave.  The vehicles included are the Batcopter, Batcycle and the Batmobile.  You will have to wait until March for the set.  What you don’t have to wait for anymore is the Ghostbuster’s Garage, it is now available in stores and online.

That’s all for now and be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook to keep up with all the toy news.
