Mattel’s New Series of Barbies Honors Inspiring Women in History

Kids will soon be able to learn and play with some of the most influential women in history.  Today, Mattel announced a new series of Barbies called “Inspiring Women.”   The first figures in the series are Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart and Katherine Johnson.  All three women made history in different industries: Earhart was the first female aviator to fly across the Atlantic Ocean; Mexican artist Kahlo was known for her unique painting style and feminist activism; and Johnson, who was highlighted in the 2016 film “Hidden Figures,” broke boundaries for black women in mathematics and calculated dozens of trajectories for NASA, including the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the moon.  (more…)

Mattel Snags “Jurassic World” Toy Line from Hasbro


Variety reported today that Mattel will be taking over Universal’s “Jurassic World” license.  The license became available when Universal and Hasbro could not come to terms on a renewal.  It looks like things went from bad to worse, depending on your opinion of the two toy companies.  You can check out the full details from Variety below:

Benoist’s Supergirl Gets Her Own Action Figure in DC Multiverse Wave 3


Melissa Benoist is getting her very own action figure as part of Mattel’s DC Multiverse wave 3.  She will come with a piece of the Doomsday build-a-figure and will be hitting shelves by the end of the summer.  Others in the wave are Doomsday Superman, The Dark Knight Returns Robin, and The Dark Knight Returns Armored Batman.  If looks like you will have to wait until the next wave to complete your Doomsday figure.
