It is hard to argue that Bob Ross is a pop culture icon. In a perfect example of “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone”, Bob Ross has become more of a celebrity after his death then when he was alive. As a younger kid, I was introduced to The Joy of Painting on PBS at my grandparent’s house. It was him and Mark Kistler’s Secret City that helped me realize my love for art and drawing. His calm kind demeanor was like watching Mr. Rogers with a paint brush. Unfortunately, after battling Lymphoma Bob Ross passed away in 1995. However, in recent years, there as seemed to be a Bob Ross renaissance. His likeness has been popping up on everything from the obvious paint sets to the odd, but cool, Bob Ross Chia Pet. Even the ever popular Deadpool sometimes cosplays as him. NECA, as always, seemed to read fan’s minds and decided to add a Bob Ross figure to their 8-inch clothed line. After he was revealed, he quickly became the figure I never knew I needed. (more…)
I am a big fan of Medicom’s MAFEX line of figures for the Dark Knight trilogy. When the Cop version of the Joker dropped down to $30 at Entertainment Earth I quickly scooped one up. Lately, Medicom has been inching the prices up on newer figures making the decision to add certain figures a little harder. This was one of those figures. I would have never see myself getting the cop version on its own. Why would someone want the cop version of the Joker that appears on the screen for less than a minute? Or a regular Bruce Wayne with a recycled Harvey Dent body? Well it’s because Medicom has been adding accessories for previous figures in later ones to make them more appealing to collectors. So, in this particular case, I was after the cop version for the alternate arms and head for my previously purchased Joker figure.
If you have seen Aliens you are more then familiar with the Power Loader. Fictionally built by real life Caterpillar in the movie, Ripley impresses the men with her ability to drive one. Spoiler warning, she later uses those skills to ultimately defeat the Queen Xenomorph in the climatic final battle. (more…)
The highly anticipated Batman/Xenomorph two pack from NECA is finally out and it was worth the wait. We were lucky enough to grab one during the online presale and got to avoid the lines at the con. Glad we did, because the line quickly grew around the booth seconds after the doors opened every morning. (more…)
